Hi I'm Richard Tester,, founder and editor of The Football Trimmings.
Having been lured into the world of football from a young age, I realised very quickly it wasn't the action on the pitch that necessarily kept me interested, it was in fact everything surrounding it.
I vividly remember my first Barnet game (free tickets from my school). The action on the pitch was pretty drab but it was the smell of the hamburgers, the fiery away fans (none other than the mighty Hartlepool United), the architecture of the sloping ground, the police presence, the tannoy announcements and solid choice of pre-match music ('Right here, right now' - Fatboy Slim) that caught my attention most.
After being a goal down for the majority of the game, Barnet snuck in a late equaliser in injury time. I'm pretty sure it was a cross and a header in but being at the bottom of the hill meant the view was awful. Being in the family end, the scenes weren't quite what I'd experience today but it tied up a lovely afternoon on the edge of North London.
Two decades later, with hundreds of games in the bank and 20 odd football shirts in the draw, it's time to put my opinions and experiences on paper.
Our focus here at The Football Trimmings is about the juicy fat off the field. From stadiums to kits, city guides to fan experiences, we'll be getting stuck in to deliver you great content that you'll enjoy.
